10 REASONS WHY TRAVELING MAKES YOU A BETTER MAN

I do not think anybody disagrees that traveling makes us good, right? Whether it’s a simple back-flip to the beach over the weekend, a holiday trip or a backpacking around the world, putting your foot on the road – even if it leaves us more tired than before we leave – always brings us something positive.

But have you ever stopped to think about how, exactly, traveling makes you a better person? Well, Matthew Kepnes stopped.

Nomadic Matt, as the boy is known, began his traveling life in 2006. This American, until then, worked in a cubicle and had two weeks of vacation a year, “like most Americans.” So after making a trip to Thailand in 2005 he decided to finish the MBA he was doing, quit his job and live forever on the road.

Since then he has written many books that have sold well in the United States on tourism and with many travel tips.

Because he was asked a lot about how the trip had changed him, Matt decided to go deeper into this issue and came to a conclusion with ten reasons why traveling makes us a better person.

As we could not be more in agreement with the points mentioned by the traveler, we decided to expose them here. Maybe you’ll convince yourself that getting out in the world really is a good idea.

The trip makes you …

1 MORE SOCIALABLE.

“On the road, it’s either take it or leave it. You can become more sociable or you end up alone, crying the night on the pillow. You learn to make friends – before strangers – and develop in the art of talking to new people. When I started traveling, I was a bit introverted and felt uncomfortable talking to those I did not know. Now I am happily talking to strangers as if we have been best friends for years. “

2 BETTER IN ARE OF CHATTING

“Traveling not only makes you more comfortable talking to strangers, but makes it better in conversation as well. After talking to people all the time, the same questions get boring. You start getting bored. After a while, you do not care where people came from, where they’re going, how long they’ve been traveling, or anything. These kinds of questions do not really say anything about the person. You improve on the art of small talk and learn to ask really interesting questions – those that matter and say something about the person. “

3  MORE CONFIDENT

“You traveled the world. He climbed Mount Everest; plunged into the Great Barrier Reef; he had dinner with that beautiful girl in Paris; he traveled through unknown cities, and overcame his fear of height. In short, you did amazing things. How could you not have become more confident? How can you not be sure about your abilities? Once you accomplish so much, you will feel much more confident in your ability to achieve anything that pops into your mind. “

4  MORE ADAPTABLE

“You’ve dealt with lost flights, slow buses, wrong corners, delays, bad street food and much, much more. After a while, you learn to adapt your plans in unexpected situations. You do not go crazy, you do not get angry, you just change the planning and move on. Life throws you balls and you send them to the nets. Because? Because you’re amazing. “

5  MORE ADVENTUROUS

“When you become confident in your ability to do anything, you really can do anything. Last week in Austin, Texas, although I did not like spicy food, I tried the hottest pepper in the world. Because? Because I wanted to. What is the purpose of life if you do not get out of your comfort zone? My mouth was on fire for a long time. But I would do it all over again. “

6 MORE RELAXED

“All those mistakes did something for you, too. They made it more relaxed and relaxed. Because? Because you dealt with them and you do not care. You go with the flow now because if the trip taught you anything it is that everything works out in the end and that there is no need for stress. “

7 SEXIEST

“Stress causes aging. These days of rest and worry free on the road will make you more confident and radiant, in addition to aging more slowly. You will look young and sexy. Unless you’re George Clooney, you’ve definitely gotten better with age. “

8 SMARTER

“Unless you stay at a resort and drown your brain in drinks, travel will teach you about the world. You will learn about people, history, culture and mysterious facts about places that many just dream about. In short, you will have a better understanding of how the world turns and how people behave. This is something that can not be learned from books – you can only learn from the road experience. “

9 LESS MATERIALISTIC

“On the road, you learn that we need very little material resources. You will realize that all this bullshit they sell at the mall is pretty much useless in a truly happy life. When you return, you will find yourself a minimalist simply because you have realized what you need to live and what you do not need. As they say, the more you have, the more these things possess you. “

10 HAPPIER

“Traveling simply teaches you how to be happy. You will become more relaxed, more confident and you will see the world as a brighter place. How can you not be happy with life after all this?

Traveling makes us better. When you learn more about the world and people, test your limits and try new things, you become more open, outgoing and incredible.

For all this, there is no reason why you are not planning your next adventure now – be it a trip around the world or just a short vacation “
